In this edition you will find out about the summer holiday activity programme, the new Credit Union shop in the town centre and an update on the Local Plan.
1. Astley Park consultation We are undertaking consultation on the future improvement of Astley Hall and Park throughout August 2013. The purpose of this consultation is to update the community on the areas where improvement is being considered and canvas opinion in relation to the proposals which are being looked at. | ![]() |
2. Welfare Reform From 15 July 2013 the Benefit cap will apply to some families living in the Chorley area. | ![]() |
3. Pest Control We've got information on our pest control services, including rats, ants and mice | ![]() |
4. Credit Union shop Chorley Council has joined forces with Unify Credit Union to open a shop in the town centre in a bid to offer local people, who are struggling to make ends meet, an alternative to turning to loan sharks and payday loan companies. | ![]() |
5. Temporary Event Notifications In order to improve communications with Parish Councils on licensing issues we are trialling a notification system to Parish Clerks in relation to the submission of Temporary Event Notifications (TEN)s. | ![]() |
6. Summer Holiday Activity Programme The Get Up and Go Team will be delivering a range of activities throughout the borough between 29 July and 30 August, including a range of sports, arts and play activities. There are also activities tailored for children and young people with disabilities in our Reach Up and Go programme. |
7. Postal Vote Refresh If your postal vote will be 5 years old or over on 31 January 2014 we will be asking for updated security information. |
8. Upcoming events PlayDay 2013 will be held on Wednesday, 7 August at Coronation Recreation Ground from 11am until 3pm. This is free fun for all the family. The whole family are invited down to Astley Park on Saturday 17 August for Chorley Council’s ‘Sports in the Park.’ Kicking off at 11am, people are encouraged to get involved in a whole range of sporting activities throughout the day, all for free with equipment provided! Play-Time in the Park will be held on Wednesday, 28 August at Astley Park from 11am until 3pm. A great day for all families with children under 11. This is a partnership event with Chorley Council, Chorley Children’s Centre’s and Homestart. | ![]() |
9. Local Plan news As requested at the last Borough Parish Liaison meeting there is an update on the Local Plan available. | ![]() |
10. Theatre in the Park is back! As part of our programme of events in Astley Park over the summer, award winning Heartbreak Productions is staging a special open air performance of ‘Alice – An Extraordinary Adventure’, an energetic adaptation of both Lewis Carroll’s books Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass. | ![]() |
11. Community Infrastructure Levy At the last Borough/Parish Liaison meeting it was agreed to forward this guidance published by the Department for Communities and Local Government. | ![]() |
