A consultation is being undertaken in respect of the permanent expansion of Balshaw Lane Primary School.
On 12 May, Lancashire County Council's Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Schools approved the consultation on a proposal to permanently expand the school from September 2018.
The consultation period will run from Monday 6 June 2016 to Friday 1 July 2016. An appointment led event will be held at the school on Thursday 16 June 2016 from 3pm to 8pm.

3. Coronation Rec Improvement Plans A popular recreation ground is set for a makeover after Chorley Council announced plans to improve the play and community facilities. Coronation Recreation Ground, off Devonshire Road, is set to get a new playground, multi-use games area (MUGA) and a café and community hub to improve local facilities thanks to funding from Chorley Council and an £8,000 grant from the Tesco and Groundwork Bags of Help initiative. Councillor Adrian Lowe who overseas parks and open spaces at Chorley Council, said "Coronation Recreation Ground was first opened in 1902 and is a much-loved community park, however, it is now starting to look dated." | ![]() |
4. Theatre in the Park presents Ratburger Chorley Council presents a hilarious outdoor theatre performance in Astley Park's Walled Garden of the best-selling David Walliams' book, Ratburger. The performance starts at 5.30pm and lasts approximately two hours. Tickets are £10 for adults, £7 for children or a family ticket (2 adults and 2 children)can be purchased for £30. The walled garden will be open from 4.30pm for attendees and parking at Hallgate car park (behind Astley Hall) is free. | ![]() |
5. Somme 100: Freedom March On Saturday, 2 July 3 Medical Regiment will exercise their right to march through Chorley Town Centre as part of the Somme 100 Commemoration events. The Regiment will form up on St. Thomas Square and set off just before 11am. They will march through the town centre, led by the Band of the King's Division, marching past the Town Hall and into Astley Park to the Cenotaph for a service of dedication for the new war memorial. | ![]() |
6. Chorley Flower Show Tickets on Sale Now! Following the success of last year, which saw Chorley Flower Show awarded second place in the Lancashire Tourism Awards 2015, tickets are now on sale for this year's show, and it promises to be bigger and better! Tickets are priced at £5 adults (£7 on the gate), £1.50 for children (£2 on the gate), £12 for a family ticket (£15 on the gate). You can also gain entry with five time credits and there are special rates for groups of more than twenty. Parking for the event will be free. | ![]() |
7. My Place Event - Chorley Inner-East As part of the work of the Chorley Public Service Reform Partnership, a community event is being planned for Tuesday 21 June (10.30am - 1.30pm), at the Scout Hut on Wright Street, to show the support and opportunities available to people in the Chorley East area. This event will bring together services from across the NHS, Police, Fire, Council, Voluntary and Faith Sector and many more, to give advice and information to residents, to help them overcome barriers to gaining education, work experience and employment. There will be a particular focus on opportunities for young people, people with caring responsibilities, and family support, as well as a number of services giving practical help for mental health conditions. BIG - Breathe Investment Grants Breathe Investment Grants (BIG) are available to support small scale community projects that will improve the quality of life for Adactus Housing Group residents and make a real difference to the neighbourhoods where Adactus operates.
