The new Mayor of Chorley already has an idea of what she will be taking on as the First Citizen of the borough. For Councillor Marion Lowe was the Mayoress, supporting her husband Councillor Adrian Lowe when he was Mayor in 2007/8.
Now their roles are to reverse as Marion was elected as Mayor at the annual meeting of Chorley Council, and Adrian became her Consort.
Marion has been a councillor representing the Chorley North East ward since 2003 and served the Euxton South ward from 1996 to 2000.

June 2015

3. Dog Control Orders and New ASB Powers You may be aware of the distressing news of a dog attack on a swan in Yarrow Valley Country Park last week. The incident together with a number of previous incidents on our public open space has raised questions about when and where dogs should be kept on a lead. The Dogs on Leads (Chorley Council) Order 2012 has a schedule of places where it is an offence to have a dog off a lead. | ![]() |

7. Community clean up day The Council has successfully worked within the various neighbourhood areas within the borough holding community clean ups (skip days)for the last few years. Councillors are being asked to think about where in their community would benefit from a community clean up during 2015/16, and to forward details of the area and suggest which groups may want to be involved. All volunteers that assist on the day will be able to earn 1 Time Credit for every hour they give to support their local community. | ![]() |
8. Let the Astley adventures begin Chorley Council opened the much-anticipated play area last Friday afternoon after months of work to improve the play facilities in Astley Park. The destination play area has been built at the side of the Pavilion and the current smaller play area. It has a theme of Royalists and Roundheads, with links to Astley Hall, where it is believed Oliver Cromwell once stayed and has sections for younger and older children. The concept is based on a castle ruin with natural stone to form ‘rooms’, which are linked with footpaths. The play equipment is spaced throughout and includes slides, climbing stacks, zip wires, swings, a hip-hop see-saw, balance trails, a wall tower and much more. | ![]() |
